Blenheim EquiSports is the Place to Be... for Young Horses and Young Riders
San Juan Capistrano, CA
- Blenheim EquiSports will be hosting three championships geared to the development of young horses and riders this September. These three finals, to be held on the grass at the Rancho Mission Viejo Riding Park at San Juan Capistrano, will showcase the West Coast's best young talent plus award $85,000 in total prize money.
Fairbanks Valley Farm, LLC sponsors the second annual $45,000 Blenheim EquiSports Young Jumper Finals
The $45,000 Blenheim EquiSports Young Jumper Finals, sponsored this season by Fairbanks Valley Farm, LLC, are returning for the second year to the International Jumping Festival (Sept. 16-20). Prize money is split among the top five, six, and seven year old jumpers, with $10,000, $15,000 and $20,000 being awarded respectively. Qualifiers, offered for free since late March of this year, allowed owners and trainers to bring along their young horses throughout the season at a more reasonable cost, an important aspect of Blenheim's Young Jumper Championship program.
For sponsors Pam and Bob Buie of Fairbanks Valley Farm, supporting a new Young Jumper program aligns well with their own program. Several of their young horses, all trained and shown by Jason McCardle, compete in the Championships annually. In the inaugural year of the Blenheim EquiSports Young Jumper Finals, Fairbanks Valley Farm's Elrito earned the victory in the Five Year Old Division. And Da's Mooi Man won the YJC Championships in his age division two years in a row.
Along with their competing horses, they continue to purchase youngsters to bring along. "We have several three and four year olds at the farm that Jason will start working later in the year. Bob and I enjoy watching the young horses learn and grow. We appreciate Blenheim EquiSports and their commitment to developing a young horse program," Pam Buie explained.

Cash for the Under 25-Year-Old Riders
Along with hosting the NAJYRC qualifiers in June, and now the USEF Talent Search Talent Search West Coast Finals in September, Blenheim recognized the need for a pipeline beyond these opportunities.
With a plan to offer a division and finals where young grand prix riders could have a chance to compete among their peers, Blenheim EquiSports introduced the Cashcall Mortgage U25 Futurity this year. Three of five $7,500 qualifiers now complete, two more qualifying classes remain before the $15,000 Finals scheduled during the International Jumping Festival (Sept. 16-20).
Although CashCall Mortgage was sold earlier this year, Gregg and Evette DeLong continued to support these important stepping stone classes. "We believe in the development of young horses and young riders," DeLong comments. "After all, they are the future of our sport." With a new company, Interactive Mortgage, about to launch, DeLong expanded his plan to include the Las Vegas National, where they will be a presenting sponsor.

Young Hunters Take Center Stage in the $25,000+ CPHA West Coast Pre-Green Championships
and Melissa Brandes of Blenheim EquiSports
Blenheim EquiSports looks forward to welcoming the young hunters who have qualified for the inaugural $25,000 CPHA West Coast Pre-Green Championships during the Blenheim Fall Tournament (Sept. 9-13). In addition to the base purse of $25,000, 100% of the enrollment fees will be added back through horse and rider bonuses and added Championship prize money.
"Through creating the Under 25 Young Rider Futurity, our own Blenheim Young Horse Finals, and by participating in the CPHA West Coast Pre-Green Championships, we continue to maintain our philosophy that Blenheim EquiSports is the place to develop young talent," Show Manager Stephanie Wheeler explains. "We believe in providing trainers options where they can develop their young horses at low cost and for riders to be exposed to conditions similar to what they may experience internationally. We can't thank our sponsors enough for their support and we look forward to crowning all the champions this Fall."
