Hanna Mauritzson and Parkmore Lux

San Juan Capistrano, CA – An enthusiastic crowd cheered on the competitors in this afternoon’s $30,000 Markel Insurance 1.45m Grand Prix. With the only double clean performance of the class, Hanna Mauritzson and Parkmore Lux (owner, Ritz Fuente, LLC) topped the field to take the win.

First in the jump-off, Mauritzson rode a neat track, stopping the clock in 47.10s. Susan Hutchison and Notable (Carolyn Mitler, owner) followed. She had the time, 46.58s, but also lowered the height of one jump on the track for a score of four faults, ultimately finishing in second place.

Course designer Guillherme Jorge of Brazil built the 1.45m track on The Oaks International Grand Prix Field, which included a challenging triple bar oxer and double combinations.

Mauritzson noted, “The course was super. The lines were nice and the jump-off had fun turns and some gallops. There was a bit of everything. It was a great course.” And describing her winning mount, she said, “He’s really my best, best horse. He had a little break and so this is his first Grand Prix coming back. I’m very happy. He was a little fresh today, so I was afraid he wouldn’t keep his focus, but he was absolutely amazing.”
